ABOUT US
Who are we?
Since the year 2000, the Peccary Project promotes protection of native habitat, wildlife, and ecosystem function and services in the Pantanal and bordering Cerrado.
Our objective
To identify key environmental ecological, and landscape features to better understand conservation threats on white-lipped peccaries’ herd dynamics and survival in a changing environment by monitoring:
•herd movements within the landscape,
•interaction with other species and the environment.
•demographic and genetic population status.
Conservation Goals
We will use our results to inform conservation planning to increase protection for white-lipped peccaries, their habitat, and other wildlife species by maintaining:
•ecosystem services
•biodiversity and ecological interactions,
•establish ecological corridors and monitoring climate change impacts.
